A few good guitar tips to get you started!

The first step was getting the right guitar, and by “right” I mean the best guitar for you in your price range. So, now what? Well, the next step, obviously, is learning to play the guitar!

Many, many potential players get bogged down here. As we’ve discussed, the world is full of guitars that were tossed aside and are now gathering dust in a corner all because their owners either expected too much too soon, or failed to follow a few simple guitar tips that would have made learning how to play the guitar a lot easier.

I don’t want that to happen to you. So, here are a couple of tips to make the first few months playing a lot more pleasurable.

1. Make sure your guitar is set up correctly. A proper set up means that your guitar will have a proper “action”. The action is the distance between your strings and your fretboard. Too much distance and it will require too much finger pressure to sound the strings. Too little distance and the strings will sound muted. This is an important but often overlooked guitar tip.
2. Speaking of strings, make sure the strings you are using are the proper weight for a beginner player. In general, a beginner player benefits from a lighter gauge string. This is because a lighter gauge string requires less finger pressure to sound. When you first start playing, you are developing hand and wrist muscles that you haven’t used before. One of the best guitar tips I can give you is not to risk injury and frustration by trying to play with a heavy gauge string.

3. Practice makes perfect! Becoming a good player takes time and effort. You need to put the time into developing your technique, your muscles and your speed. Every guitarist you admire spends time practicing their playing. No matter how good you get, no matter how good you are, there is no substitute for regular practice.

Learning how to play an instrument is a wonderful experience. Each time you master something new, you become a better player. By following these simple guitar tips, you can make sure that your first steps on the road to learning guitar will be as easy as possible! Good luck!

What's so special about the classical guitar?

Guitars are among the most popular of music instruments in the world, used in almost all genres of music there is. Be it the bass line for the latest rap extravaganza, or the lead solo in a jazz fusion piece, guitars, including the classical guitar, can be found resonating their sounds in almost all types of music across the globe.

As musical instruments, the first generation of guitars have been known to be used even 5000 years ago. Of course, these ancient guitars didn’t really resemble the modern day guitar, but the basic premise of guitars pretty much remain the same. Today, guitars come in various types and various classes, the most common distinction of which would be acoustic and electric guitars. Further classifications of guitars follow these guitar types. With acoustic guitars, there is the steel stringed guitar and the classical guitar. For electric guitars, there is the arctop electric guitar and the basic electric guitar.

There are actually more guitar types, but these stand as the most main of guitar classifications. Between all the mentioned guitar types, the classical guitar line stands to have the most soft, endearing sound, perfect for bringing the classical music genre to life.

The classical guitar is basically an acoustic guitar designed for plucking, as well as strumming. A classical guitar could be fitted with pick up systems, enabling it to be hooked up to an amplifier for large audience performances. They differ from steel stringed acoustic guitars in the sense that a classical guitar has a wider neck, allowing for more finger placements for chords and other guitar playing improvisations. The strings used in classical guitars are also nylon, different from steel stringed acoustic guitars, which as their name already say, use steel strings. The nylon strings make for more comfortable use, and the resonating sound results to more softer tones, which makes classical guitars perfect for the rendition of classical pieces.

When talking about classical guitars and guitars in general, one thing worth noting is that there is actually no rule in guitar playing which indicates that classical pieces could only be played using a classical guitar. Guitarists could actually play classical pieces on acoustic steel stringed guitars, or even in electric guitars or any guitar of their choosing for that matter. The nature of the sound produced by a classical guitar could also be used for various musical genres, but at their most base, classical guitars are just the perfect guitar type for classical music.

Jamorama Acoustic Guitar – Product Review

Jamorama Acoustic guitar is another creation from guitar master Ben Edwards and it is our number one choice for a complete guitar course! Jamorama Acoustic is aimed at the acoustic guitar player and is quite literally the acoustic version of Ben’s popular Jamorama! Guitar course that has lead the guitar learning market for the past several years.

Lessons, Videos and Tips Galore

Jamorama Acoustic comes with 153 video lessons and is packed with tips and tricks to get the student playing in the shortest time possible. The thing about Jamorama Acoustic that sets it apart from any other guitar course is that it is an integrated learning kit with lessons, games and practice “jam tracks” put together in a way that gets tangible results fast. Every aspect of the course from the way it is downloaded, to the way lessons are laid out, to the Acoustic Jam Tracks that come with the course for a learner to practice what’s being taught in context makes Jamorama Acoustic easy and fun to use.

Less Theory and More Real Skills

Jamorama Acoustic Guitar is a practical guitar course. Ben hasn’t loaded it down with a lot of unnecessary theory. While you will come away from the course with skills like being able to ready guitar TAB, you won’t spend time learning theory that has little or no application.

Blows Away the Competition

I give Jamorama Acoustic a score of 10 out of 10! My son and I have tried several courses and this one is certainly the best. We are even going to use it with some of our studio students! If you want to learn acoustic guitar and are looking at an online course, I wholeheartedly recommend Jamorama Acoustic Guitar. You will not find more information packaged in a user-friendly course for so little money anywhere.

You will be much more likely to become a star if you start off with guitar lessons for beginners.

The guitar just might be one instrument that you have always wanted to learn how to play ever since. But the instrument just does not have a place for you, or so it seems. This is not out of the ordinary, because there are indeed a lot of people who want to learn how to play the instrument. The problem is, they don’t know how to go about it.

Fortunately, today’s plethora of musicians have made this incredibly easier for everyone and anyone who is interested. Now, there are a lot of guitar lessons for beginners out there. All you have to do is choose whatever method you would want for your learning process. You can have guitar lessons for beginners from a private tutor. Or, you can have guitar lessons for beginners from a certain music school. You can even have guitar lessons for beginners from a friend or a person you know very well. Just be sure to choose whatever method would be more convenient for you. This way, you will be sure to enjoy the learning experience as well. Your enjoyment is indeed motivation enough for you, as a student.

Since these are just guitar lessons for beginners, then there really is no need to rush things. Don’t go for playing the chords on the very first day of your guitar lessons for beginners. You need to take your time with this. The first thing you could do is actually know where the different chords would go. Any instructor giving guitar lessons for beginners would give the student a chord chart. And you should not lose this chord chart, because this will help you all throughout your lessons. The chord chart would give you the placement of your fingers, as required by all major and minor chords. Being familiar with the placement for these chords is actually one of the first steps in guitar lessons for beginners.

When you’re more familiar with these chords already, then you can start trying to play them out. Don’t get too frustrated if your fingers cannot reach a particular string or so. This is quite normal. It takes some time for your fingers to be able to acquire the right positioning for the different chords. To be able to do this faster, you can master the easier chords first. This way, your fingers would be primed for the more difficult chords, when the time comes to play them.

Guitar lessons for beginners should also be tempered with the student’s will and determination. Without these, the lessons would be just in vain.
